Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively together with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
